How to Validate Your Rhino 5 License Key
If you have purchased Rhino 5, you need to validate your license key to use the software. Validation is a process that associates your license with your email address and, for upgrade licenses, your previous license key. This helps you recover lost or stolen license keys and install Rhino on multiple computers.
To validate your license key, follow these steps:
After installing Rhino, you have a 30-day grace period to complete the validation process. Rhino will display the License Validation Wizard.
Follow the instructions on the screen to enter your email address and license key. If you have an upgrade license, you also need to enter a license key for a previous version of Rhino.
If your computer is connected to the internet, Rhino will validate your license online and you are done. If your computer is not connected to the internet, you need to validate offline using another computer with a web browser.
If you need to validate offline, visit the validation web site given by Rhino on another computer. Enter your email address and license key. If required, enter a license key for a previous version of Rhino. A validation code will be displayed. Print or write down your validation code.
Return to the computer that does not have an internet connection. The computer must be off the internet for the offline validation to work. Disconnect from wireless or unplug cable, and proceed to step 6.
Start Rhino 5. Enter your validation code in the Validation Wizard and click Next. Rhino will now be successfully validated offline.
If you receive an error during license validation, please contact McNeel Technical Support for help. Please include the error description when you contact support.

Why do you need to validate your license key
Validation is a way of ensuring that you are the legitimate owner of your Rhino license. It also allows you to install Rhino on multiple computers, as long as you use the same email address and license key for each installation. Validation also helps you recover your license key if you lose it or if it gets stolen.
What happens if you don't validate your license key
If you don't validate your license key within 30 days of installing Rhino, the software will stop working and you will not be able to use it. You will need to validate your license key to resume using Rhino. If you have any problems with validation, please contact McNeel Technical Support for assistance.
How to manage your license key with the Zoo or Cloud Zoo
If you have a network license of Rhino, you can use the Zoo or Cloud Zoo to manage your license key. The Zoo is a free floating license manager that runs on a server and allows you to share your license key among multiple users on the same network. The Cloud Zoo is a similar service that runs on the internet and allows you to access your license key from any device with an internet connection.
To use the Zoo or Cloud Zoo, you need to create an account and add your license key to it. Then you can install Rhino as a network install on the computers that will use the license. When you start Rhino, it will automatically connect to the Zoo or Cloud Zoo and check out a license. When you close Rhino, it will return the license to the Zoo or Cloud Zoo for other users to use.
