Today is Lezlie's 19th birthday. I woke up and said to myself, it will be a wonderful day. We will celebrate with cake and pink flowers. She will be remembered. She will be celebrated.
There may not be a group of people singing to her at the El Sombrero. There may not be a bunch of presents to open. She may not get to eat this cake or blow out candles, but she will be celebrated.
Lezlie was her own person. She loved life. She loved people. There wasn't much she didn't love. She loved her family, her friends and maybe even snowman (even though he growled at her a few times). She loved softball. She loved music. She loved the beach.
She loved to be the one standing beside the birthday boy or girl handing presents and just taking it all in.
She loved mud riding. She loved Big Macs and could eat two. She loved taco belle. She loved summertime.
She liked surprises but also would tell you you surprise if you hounded her enough.
So today, celebrate with us. She may be in heaven but, celebrate her. Be nice. Be kind. Be helpful and eat cake for breakfast if you want. Take her pink flowers. I promise she will giggle about it. Sit on her bench and sing to her. Enjoy today and know that some of us have a pretty special Angel watching.
Psalm 91:11 "He will command his angels to protect you wherever you may go."
