Social media is a great way to keep up with old friends and, family.
Social media is not a great way to find out someone has passed. Whatever happened to respect?
The media sucks anyway, anything that makes a dollar is great news. Regardless of who it hurts.
Imagine someone calling you and saying they are so sorry to hear about your baby or better yet, posting a message on your timeline about it. It sucks. I know firsthand. Many of Lezlie's friend and some family found out on social media.
Why, the news leaked it first. The news. The news that posted a picture of a car with her in the backseat. Wow! They care about money not feelings.
The only channel that had any respect during our time was WAPT, look up Lezlie Whitehead and listen to their story. They had respect.
Granted, there are some journalists and news people that care, there are plenty that don't.
Same thing for the 2 or 10 that ask who, what when you ask for prayers. Just pray, God knows the need.
The same thing goes for the ones that ask who was in a wreck. Really, let people be notified before you pry because 9 times out of 10 you have no clue who it was.
Anniversary dates of the accident etc., don't post the news story on our timelines. We remember every year and we damned sure don't need a news article reminding us. It is not helpful or thoughtful regardless of what you have read or think, it is heartless.
Remember this, social media can be good but, it can be bad. It can break our hearts all over again when used the wrong way.
Be thoughtful. Be respectful.
Luke 6:31 "Do to others as you would have them do to you."
