You know sometimes having a good heart will get you hurt more than anything else in this world.
If you are a giver, you will learn that some people (quite a few) will take advantage of your giving nature.
Yes, it is okay to want to help others. Lord knows you may be the only help some get but, do not be a doormat.
You know, honestly you can tell if someone is true. Prime example, when you honestly cannot give to them anymore, they will stick around but if they don't stick around, well you know what they are.
I have a bad habit of trying to help everyone. But, that is about to change.
Why? In this day and age, when all you do is give and give and give, every now and then you need the reassurance that the people you are giving to are good people. So, you stop.
Being a giver can be a blessing and a curse. Why, this world is cruel. People like to walk all over people. People are accustomed to give me give me and do not want to do anything in return.
Evaluate your relationships. If someone truly is not taking advantage of you, they'll be listening to who you are as person. They will know things because, they want to be around you and not your giving spirit. They'll know you favorite color. They'll know your biggest fear and weakness. They'll know things because they were paying attention. If you have to constantly tell people that are supposed to know these things, maybe it is time to move on to something new.
Lezlie had a good heart. Lezlie also wasn't someone that let anyone take advantage of her. She would give you the shirt off her back. She used to take her money and buy others snacks. Most people that knew her knew she was a giver. She had a big heart. She never wanted or asked for anything.
I am a giver. But, every now and then the giver needs to be the receiver. Let that sink in.
Leviticus 25:17 "Do not take advantage of each other, but fear your God. I and the LORD your God."
